The Moritz College of Law offers a JD degree that is recognized throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and across the nation. Moritz is consistently a top public law school across the country and its specialty program in dispute resolution is ranked fifth in the nation.

Also offered is a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree which is designed for foreign lawyers who wish to advance their legal education in a stimulating academic environment.

  Applications for the Autumn 2015 J.D. Program will be available from September 15 to March 31.

Applications for the Autumn 2014 LL.M. Program are available from September 15 to March 15.

Admission Criteria
   
  The Moritz College of Law evaluates the following items when determining a student's admissibility:

J.D. Program

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Academic performance
  • Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score
  • Two LSDAS recommendation letters
  • Personal statement

LL.M. Program
  • obtained an LL.B. from a foreign country; or
  • completed in a foreign country the university based legal education required to take the equivalent of the bar examination in that foreign country; or
  • qualified to practice law in a foreign country; or
  • the equivalent thereof as determined by the LL.M. Admissions Committee.

J.D. Program

  • Domestic - $60
  • International - $70

LL.M. Program

  • Domestic - $40
  • International - $50

Acceptance fee (non refundable)

$25 acceptance fee is required after admission.


Deposit (non refundable)

$200 deposit is required after admission and credited toward the first semester's tuition payment.

Law School Admission Test(LSAT)
   
  J.D. applicants are required to submit LSAT scores. Registration and information books are available at:

English Language Requirement
   
  International applicants from non-English speaking countries are required to fulfill the TOEFL, MELAB or IELTS requirement. If your native language is not English, you should possess a minimum level of English proficiency which is demonstrated by minimum scores as follows:

J.D. Program

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
    • 600 (Paper-based test)
    • 100 (Internet-based test)
  • OR

  • MELAB (Michigan Language Assessment Battery)
    • 86
  • OR

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
    • 8.0

LL.M. Program

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
    • 550 (Paper-based test)
    • 80 (Internet-based test)

    OR

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
    • 7.0

The LL.M. program does not accept the MELAB.
