Financial Aid

What financial aid is available at OSU?
Professional students may apply for the following types of financial aid:

Scholarships - All Professional students.

Health Professions Student Loans - Dentistry, Optometry, Entry Level Doctor of Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine students.

Primary Care Loans - Medical students only who agree to practice in a primary care field as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services. Awarded for year three and four of medical school.

Dentistry Loans: Dental students only.

Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans - All Professional students.

Additional Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans - Dentistry, Medicine, Optometry, Entry Level Doctor of Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine students.

Other sources:
Veterans Benefits,
Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits, and
Graduate Scholarship from the Ohio Board of Regents.

Graduate Assistantships are generally not available for professional students due to the curriculum. The only exceptions would be in dual Graduate/Professional degree programs. Some professional students who are in a dual graduate/professional degree may be eligible for an assistantship (i.e. a student pursuing a dual degree in Law and the MBA program may receive a graduate assistantship or fellowship).

Ohio State has no financial aid or scholarships to offer international students, but some private lenders will allow international students to receive private loans with a U.S. citizen as a cosigner.
